Questionnaire results

1. What type of music genre do you listen to?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

In this question I asked what genre of music did people listen to, these results have showed a rather wide variety in taste in my target audience. My music magazine is not specific to one genre, as it will cover most of the listed above, this means that I will be able to cater to peoples interest. also, form this I have gathered that I will need to look into other styles of music that are popular as 15% of the people who answered this, choose other.

2. How often do you buy a music magazine?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

The results show that a large percentage of people at 35% never buy a music magazine, this shows me that when creating my magazine I need to make sure it does appeal to my target audience as the amount of people who buy music magazines is shown to be less than previously thought. Also, 20% of people put sometimes which suggests that they only do when one edition is appealing to them, this means that I need to make sure that my magazine is appealing to people who don't always buy one but will if it seems interesting.

3. Are you ever interested in hearing more about your favourite music artists?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

Due to 45% of the people saying that they sometimes would like to hear more about their favourite artists, it shows me that they headline and cover story need to be really attention grabbing for it to convince people that it a good story. Furthermore, it means that they photo needs to grab peoples attention and cause interest.

4. How much would you spend on a music magazine?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

The results from this question show that the price of the magazine is an important part, the largest proportion of people have chosen £2-£2.99 at 40%. from this I know that this price will get 40% of the people in my audience as well as the 25% who said a higher price.

5. Do you like reading about new artists?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0
The results from this are positive, as my magazine caters for finding new artists and giving them some promotion in the music industry. These results suggest that a large amount of interested readers would enjoy reading about new artists, which therefore means that they would be more likely to read my magazine than others.

6. Are you interested in reading about music concerts and festivals?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

From this I can gather, that it would be viable to feature concerts and festivals as a part of my magazines contents. this is because 35% of my audience would be interested in reading about festivals and concerts, which means that if my magazine were to include this as a regular feature then there would be larger target audience which would raise the popularity and spread my magazines brand. Similarly, 40% chose sometimes which shows that if it were regularly featured that every other edition may be increased in popularity as the feature of the festivals and concerts catches the attention and interest, of the people who sometimes like to read about them.

7. Are you male or female?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

When asking people to fill in my questionnaire, I made sure that there was an even split between male and female. This is because my music magazine is aimed towards both sexes, and therefore I needed my results to reflect. I didn't want my answers to be more biased towards one sex when my magazine is aimed towards both.

8. Is the name Record Smashers appealing to you?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

These results show that the name of my magazine is appropriate. As 95% of my answers were positive it shows that it can appeal to a large amount of people and is seen to be an appropriate choice for a music magazine name.

9. Would you prefer short or long articles?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

Due to the results being quite close, I know to include a variety of article length, this means that it will then appeal to everyone. Furthermore, by having a variety it not only appeals to the people who like to see that but also has some long articles for people who want a quick read, but also long articles for people who want a lot of detail as well.

10. What draws you to a magazine?
  • Answered: 20
  • Skipped: 0

The popularity of the answer of photo, shows the impact that the photo has on whether someone decides to buy a magazine. This means that the photo needs to be well planned and fit in well with the genre. Also, the headline as well as free products show to be popular which means when laying out these features they need to be in a place that is easy to be seen and quickly noticed to draw their attention in. Due to my magazine catering for multiple different genres it means that the 15% of people who are drawn in by the choice of genre will most likely have the inimium of one feature per issue that interests them.
