
Billboard is a magazine with the ideology of the most current and popular music artists and bands. It focuses it content mainly on pop artists and bands, but within pop there is varying of genres, for example R&B and rap. It focuses on the artists that are making the biggest impact on the music industry in that time. Billboard believes and recognises that music has a large impact on society and peoples lives, they believe it is an important part of life and they values the role that music plays. Billboard is one of the oldest magazines and is well established in the music industry. It gets its masthead of Billboard from the american magazine American Billboard, this is the american equivalent of the UK top 40 charts. This shows how the magazine focuses on promoting well known as well as established artists and promoting them to the public. Billboard has a large target audience as they appeal to the most popular current music, this means that the magazine has variety of different styles. The core readers of the magazine would be people who listen and follow the charts and enjoy the artists who are currently the chart toppers. They target all ages as they have varying bright and subtle colours which is dependant on which artist is currently featured and whom that artist would be more attractive to. The magazine values artists who are popular to the public and understand that in the music industry popularity is constantly changing and they value following these changes and representing them to the public. Each year Billboard produce and sell 38 issues and they are sold around the world, every week 17,000 copies are sold and each month their website has 15.2 million unique visitors
