Evaluation Question 4
My music magazine "Record Smashers" is aimed at young readers between the age of 15 and 21 and is gender neutral as it features both male and female artists, the house style is neutral so it is not too biased towards either gender. Most of my target audience are either teenagers or young adults which means that they will either be in full-time education, on a apprenticeship, in college, university or just starting work. This age range may not have access to a disposable income which means that the price of the product is very important and therefore I have kept the price of my magazine at a reasonable price at £2.99. Most of my target audience is either at home and or in student accommodation, they most likely be in the exam stage of their life and will need something to help them relax and destress.
Their values in life will be spending quality time with friends and family both indoors and outdoors, my magazine being in print form means that its easily accessible and not restricted by internet access as it would be if it were online base. On the weekends, they will spend their time going to places such as the park, into shopping centres, the cinema as well as multi-cultural entertainment centres. They will have an interest in a variety of different music genres such as pop, rock and indie. This means that my magazine will cater for part of their music entertainment but not all of it, as companies such as iTunes and Spotify allows people to have access to their favourite music. This illustrates how my target audiences money is spent around different forms of media.
Their fashion style will reflect the current and edgy style that is seen in music artists but due to the price is on lower price range. This means that they would shop in places such as New Look, Topshop and Topman as well as Primark and H&M. These shops are high street retailers but also are accessed on the internet which allows my audiences to be able to enjoy themselves in going out as well as access it online.
In the current generation smartphones are very popular such as iPhones and Samsung's. It gives young people access to apps such as Youtube, Facetime, Snapchat and more, this means that my magazine would have the opportunity to be accessed through an app which gives in marketing and its own identity. Technology means that the audience would be able to access and download their music through a variety of different companies such as Apple music and Soundcloud. It gives audiences access to more music then previously which may evoke interest in new and interesting genres, this may mean that audiences could be interested in the magazine genre when they might not have been previously as they hadn't heard much of the featured music.
My primary audience is 15-21 boys and girls that have strong family values and strong connections with their friends. Through them mainly living at home or in accommodation it brings a secondary audience through parents, siblings or friends. I have included new and well-established artists as it introduces the audience to both well-loved and new artists.
I will ask both males and females within my target age range to review my products on whether or not it is successful in appealing to my target audience and any improvements.
